Bocas del Toro, PanamaHere are some photos from our trip in August 2004. Click here for my comments on the place.
A view from the hotel at which we stayed, Caranero Island Another view.
This is one of the pieces of land we were looking at buying - 40 acres for just $125,000! It looks like jungle at the moment, but you can employ the indians at $7 a day to clear it in just a few months.
One of the prime beaches - Red Frog Beach on Bastimentos Island - with some amazing surf, and no crowds!
My son Ben and myself taking some surf lessons from Victor (in the red shirt).
My vain attempt at surfing on one of the quieter beaches on Isla Colon.
Myself and son Josh trying out some cocoa beans on one of the pieces of land we looked at. You can suck of the sweet fruit from around the bean - very tasty.
A typical house built near or on the water. Caranero Island. June 2005
Our new boat moored outside the house, above the coral.
The floors being put in (Bernard in red bandana).
Another house Bernard is building - gives an idea of what our house will look like on the outside.
View of Bocas town from Caranero island.
This resort charges $275 - $325 per night per cabin with 100% occupancy in the high season and 30% in low. And they don't have the corral (but they do provide meals).
Arial view of Boca del Drago, one of the nearby beaches.
